I am interested in photographing in Chicago, the city where the built environment meets the natural world. Exploring the waterfront space, I seek simple forms created by man and nature itself. In my works, I create a sense of quietness, yet visually keep the evidence of urban life.

Tanya Lunina (b. 1973, Russia) is a fine art photographer based in the Chicagoland area where she settled in 2006. In 2019, Lunina completed the Photo Program at the College of DuPage (Glen Ellyn, IL).

Prior to the United States, Lunina lived in Japan and Switzerland. Japan was a place where her passion for photography and expression of her artistic vision had started. While continuing to practice her photographic skills, Lunina moved to Switzerland and later to the United States. Each place that she has lived in was a new starting point in her life experience.

The Chicagoland area is the place where Lunina lives now, and her current work is related to both the urban and its neighboring waterfront space of the city. For her, finding a sense of a place is about observing, accepting, and living in a moment. This belief greatly influences her photography. She always looks for a personal interpretation of a place and photographically strives to achieve order and balance in her works.
