AINT-BAD
CHICAGO
Featuring the work of Patty Carroll, Paul D’Amato, John Lusis, Jason Reblando, and Leonard Suryajaya and curated by Rachel Jump, Carson Sanders and Taylor Curry of Aint-Bad, this exhibition highlights images from a selection of artists who are currently making work in the Chicago area.
In collaboration with Aint-Bad, the featured artists presented in the exhibition Aint-Bad Metropolis: Chicago are also included in the Chicago portion of Issue No.11 of Aint–Bad Magazine. A closing reception and publication launch party will be held on Friday, September 9th, 6-9pm. Copies of the publication will be available for purchase, as well as other books and publications from Aint-Bad.
Issue No.11 explores a larger publication divided into three smaller parts. When whole, the Metropolis series acts as a collection of visually compelling contemporary photography from the largest of the three cities in the U.S.: Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York. It is a challenging task to curate work from cities with such dense histories of art and culture. Each city has experienced at this point it’s own unique mini history of photography, worthy of an entire textbook for each city. Within the hundreds of submissions received we have selected the work of only a handful of artists to represent each location. The publishers hope that you enjoy the selection of artists inside of this trilogy of Aint–Bad Magazine.
This project is partially supported by a CityArts Grant from the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs & Special Events.
