BUILDING A BODY OF WORK IN THE REAL WORLD
with Rahim Fortune
How do you take an idea and turn it into a finished project? This one-day workshop with artist Rahim Fortune will explore the life cycle of documentary focused projects—from conceptualization to execution to completion. Beginning with a discussion about best practices when first researching and developing photographic stories, participants will also explore the impact that choices related to things like shooting style and editing have on the final product. Finally, through group critique, Fortune will guide participants through strategies to prepare a completed project for publishing or exhibiting.
Participants should bring a printed portfolio or book dummy from a single project.
This workshop is limited to 15 participants.

Fortune’s previous book, I Can’t Stand to See You Cry, was published by Loose Joints in 2021 and was the winner of the Rencontres d'Arles Louis Roederer Discovery Award 2022.
