Coffee & Conversation with Kelly Kristin Jones

in conjunction with Ghost in the throat

KKJ_Sky Falling.jpg

Join us for coffee and conversation with current Filter Space exhibiting artist, Kelly Kristin Jones. Jones will discuss her exhibition Ghost in the throat, which considers the way white women continue to serve themselves by serving the patriarchy.

Following the conversation in the gallery, all are invited to join us as walk over to nearby Union Park to create a new photo-based intervention with the artist. Many of the physical actions Jones performs on contested monuments and historical markers can be aptly described using the language of photographic tooling—dodging, blending, and layering. Participants are invited to create their own tools to interrupt or block out contested monuments in Union Park. Small groups will work with the artist to perform an intervention for a photographic document. A variety of photographic and art materials will be provided for use.
