Academic Engagement Coordinator, Smart Museum of Art; and Independent Curator

Natasha Ritsma has curated more than a dozen photography exhibitions in Chicago featuring the work of artists such as Jeffery Wolin, Tonika Lewis Johnson, Steve Schapiro and Michelle Murphy. In 2019 she worked with the Magenta Foundation in curating Flash Forward 2018 at the Loyola Universiy Museum of Art. She currently works in Academic Engagement at the Smart Museum of Art at the University of Chicago. She holds a PhD from Indiana University and a MA from the University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign.

She is most interested in documentary and conceptual photography, especially work that focuses on socially engaged storytelling.
